Motorcyclist, Victoria police cruiser collide

38-year-old Saanich woman in hospital after Sunday night collision

A 38-year-old Saanich woman is in hospital after a serious collision with an unmarked VicPD patrol car.

Two VicPD officers were transporting a suspect to jail around 8:30 p.m. Sunday and were driving eastbound on Chattham Street through Government Street when the motorcyclist struck the car.

Preliminary witness accounts stated that the police car was traveling on the green light, said Const. Mike Russell.

The woman was transported to the hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

The Independent Investigations Office of B.C. was notified of the accident, but will not be investigating, Russell said.
