About 2,000 Greater Victoria residents were without power Wednesday morning as winter winds continued and temperatures set to drop.

About 400 households in the 10 Mile Point area of Saanich lost power shortly before 6 a.m. and was restored by 8 a.m.

The power went out for about 1,500 Oak Bay residents along Beach Drive and Newport Avenue around 5 a.m. attributed to a cable fault, according to BC Hydro.

Earlier that morning, trees on the lines left 2,185 residents without power from about 2 a.m. to 5 a.m. in Langford, Metchosin and Colwood. It was among several outages overnight and in recent days as wind continues to rock the region.
