Overdose ends in ambulance ride

A 27-year-old man was taken to hospital on Sunday, March 18 after causing a disturbance during a methadone overdose.

Police went to deal with the man in the Elgin Rd., Milton St. area at about 9:40 p.m. after a complaint. B.C. Ambulance transported the man to hospital for treatment.

 

Red light runner sparks crash

No one was injured in a two-vehicle crash on Monday, March 19 at the intersection of Foul Bay Road and Goldsmith Street.

The driver of an Audi going west on Goldsmith Street was attempting to turn left onto Foul Bay Road when the driver of a 2005 Toyota failed to stop for a red light and crashed into the Audi. The crash caused significant damage to both vehicles. The driver of the Toyota was issued a ticket for running the red light.

 

Cadillac driver sideswipes parked vehicle

Police responded to a hit and run in the 2500-block of Bowker Ave. on Tuesday, March 20 just after noon.

An 84-year-old driver of a 1986 Cadillac was heading west on Bowker Avenue when she sideswiped a parked car.

The driver did not stop. A witness in a following car tailed the Cadillac to the Monterey Centre and called police. The woman was identified and given a ticket for failing to stop after a collision.

 

Car seized after driver fails test

Police stopped a speeding, swerving driver of a 2004 BMW near Cranmore Road on Thursday, March 21.

A 41-year-old Saanich man had alcohol on his breath and failed a roadside screening test. The man received a 90-day driving ban and the BMW was seized for 30 days.

 

Police seize illegal weapon

Police seized an illegal style of knife from a home in the 1400-block of Beach Drive on Friday, March 22.

The knife was a homemade “push style” dagger, with a handle perpendicular to the blade.

Oak Bay Police are not pressing charges but say the incident is a good reminder that many types of knives are prohibited, including knives concealed in objects, such as “knife-combs,” and knives that open automatically using gravity or a button and spring.
