As below-freezing temperatures caused by an Arctic outflow continue to grip Greater Victoria, the corresponding snowfall has given residents the rare opportunity to enjoy winter sports close to home while giving the landscape a different look.
Municipal crews, meanwhile, continue to be busy clearing roads around the Saanich Peninsula. In Sidney, crews started plowing major roads Monday night, with snow removal and salting continuing into Tuesday morning, according to staff. Crews are now reaching quieter streets in addition to high use ones. They are also clearing crosswalks and curb drops in the downtown core as well as bus stops and areas around public washrooms.
Sidney staff are also reminding community that they are responsible for clearing sidewalks in front of their homes and businesses. If a neighbour could use a hand with this task, please help out.
