Plaza Hotel rezoing goes to public hearing Thursday

The public hearing for the rezoning application for the Plaza Hotel building will be held Thursday at city hall at 7:30 p.m.

The public hearing for the City of Victoria's consideration of a rezoning application for the Plaza Hotel building will be held Thursday at city hall at 7:30 p.m.

If passed the rezoning would allow for a planned two additional storeys of residences and a public plaza on the corner of Pandora and Government streets. The building would be converted to a residential development with ground-level commercial space.

The motion would also upgrade the building's heritage designation. GMC Projects and League Assets have plans to remove current awnings on the Government St. side to reveal the building's Edwardian features. Also in the plans is to restore original bay windows and brickwork.

After public hearing the rezoning will be considered for adoption by council.
