Police dog sniffs out knife

Police respond to Bastion Square incident where man was reportedly trying to start a fight

Victoria police officers chased down two men near Bastion Square, after witnesses said one of the suspects had drawn a knife and was trying to start fights.

They were apprehended near Bastion Square on Sunday around 2:59 a.m.

No knife was found on the suspect, but a police dog sniffed out a knife near some garbage bins, said Victoria police Deputy Chief John Ducker.

The men, both in their 20s and from Saanich, face charges of assault with a weapon and possession of a dangerous weapon.
