A 34-year-old Victoria man is spending the weekend in jail after being nabbed for car break-ins in Saanich.

The Saanich police and the Regional Crime Unit arrested the man Thursday night based on fingerprint evidence recovered from the vehicles, and stolen items linking the man to a series of thefts.

Police say more than two dozen cars were entered and had items stolen in the Blenkinsop, Lakehill and Cedar Hill X Road areas in early July.

The man will make a first appearance in court on Monday to face a number of charges of theft and possession of stolen property.
