Saanich home invasion leaves one man in hospital with head injuries

A 36-year-old man suffered injuries after a Monday night home invasion that police believe was targeted

Saanich police are looking for witnesses to a home invasion Monday night that left one man in hospital with serious head injuries.

Just before 8:40 p.m. on Feb. 17, police were called to a residence in the 700-block of Haynes Rd. A 36-year-old resident of the home said he had been assaulted by three men on the property.

"While the motive for this incident is still not known, it appears that this event was planned and that the victim was likely targeted," said Sgt. Steve Eassie in a release. "Based on preliminary investigation, investigators do not believe that there is any immediate threat to the community."

The victim remains in hospital with serious, but non-life threatening injuries, Eassie said.

Police are asking anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in the area at the time of the attack to call detectives at 250-475-4321 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
