A Saanich police car sits damaged in the department's parking lot after being involved in a crash late Sunday night.

A Saanich police car was involved in a collision just before midnight on Sunday while en route to a call.

The officer, heading westbound on Saanich Road, entered the intersection on a red light at Blanshard Street with the car’s emergency lights activated. He struck the driver’s side of a 2009 Hyundai Accent turning left onto Saanich Road.

None of the four occupants in the Accent, nor the officer were injured in the crash.

Sgt. Steve Eassie says the incident is currently under an internal review.

The damaged Accent had to be towed from the scene.
