SPCA ask for food donations

The SPCA's Victoria branch is asking for the public to help feed the animals at the shelter.

"What we desperately, desperately need is canned cat and dog food of any kind," said branch manager Penny Stone. "We're out buying it nearly every day.

"We get our hard food donated, but we like to put a topping on it, especially for animals that may be scared or nervous."

Stone acknowledged that the B.C. SPCA also just put out a call for donations of towels, blankets and other bedding materials, but that her branch has plenty of those items. They won't turn donations away, but Stone said that if people really want to help, canned food is the best way to do it.

Donations can be dropped off at the Victoria SPCA branch, 3150 Napier Lane.
