A man taken into custody for suspected impaired driving Tuesday morning for a second time in three weeks may yet climb behind the wheel again.

VicPD arrested the driver today after he was involved in a rear-end collision in the 800-block of Craigflower Rd. Police are recommending criminal charges of impaired driving, driving while prohibited and other charges. Officers indicated that the man blew more than twice the legal blood-alcohol limit and was arrested at the scene.

Const. Matt Rutherford said although the man is under a driving prohibition, until charges are sworn in court there is potential for this individual to offend again.

“Any impaired driver that we stop, we issue them the paperwork issuing a prohibition,” Rutherford said. “They’re not allowed to drive; [but] that’s the chance we take any time we deal with any impaired driver.”

No injuries were reported in the morning incident.
