Suspects identified, one arrested, in knife attack on the Goose

RCMP confident in tracking down remaining two suspects

One suspect has been taken into custody and two others identified in a stabbing that occurred Tuesday in Langford.

West Shore RCMP received a call at 5:20 p.m. that a man had been stabbed, and found the 31-year-old victim on the Galloping Goose trail near Jacklin Road. He was transported to hospital with serious injuries and was still in hospital as of Wednesday morning.

RCMP flooded the area, canvassing possible witnesses and examining the scene, and Saanich police brought in a police dog to try and track down possible suspects.

At 1 a.m. Wednesday morning, RCMP arrested a 17-year-old Langford girl and had identified two other suspects, a man and a woman, who they were in the process of tracking down.

“We … expect to have them behind bars shortly,” Insp. Larry Chomyn, detachment commander for the West Shore RCMP, said in a statement.

Investigators had yet to determine whether the victim and his assailants knew each other, and could not confirm whether the two adult suspects were also residents of Langford.

“We’re still in the throes of the investigation,” Cpl. Kathy Rochlitz said later Wednesday morning.

The West Shore RCMP Major Crime Unit is handling the investigation and asks anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or has any information, to call 250-474-2264, or Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
