Daycare workers in Fernwood called police last week when a man, allegedly armed with a sword, was practising martial arts techniques near the facility.
An officer found the suspect nearby, who explained his house is too small to allow a full range of motion with the sword. The officer then explained swordplay next to a care centre for young children wasn’t ideal.
The officer ran the man’s name and discovered he had a history of mental health-related run-ins with police. He gave up the sword.
