Townhouse fire in Victoria contained to bathroom

Damage estimated at $40,000

Victoria firefighters knocked down a bathroom fire in a townhouse Tuesday night before the flames were able to spread to the rest of the residence.

By the time emergency crews arrived on scene after being called to 1311 Hillside Ave. at 10:17 p.m., they were forced to navigate through thick smoke in the upper floor of the house.

The home's occupants had been evacuated by the time emergency personnel arrived, and planned to stay with friends that night. No injuries were reported.

Damage is estimated at $40,000. The home was deemed uninhabitable due to smoke damage.

Fire prevention officials continued to investigate the cause of the fire at press time.
