A large chestnut tree crashed down on Balmoral Road Thursday morning taking out two power poles.
Emergency crews have closed the 1,000 block of Balmoral from Vancouver Street to Quadra Street.
Residents in the area were told to remain inside their homes for safety reasons as there was a potential for live wires.
A few houses in the area lost power as a result of the incident.

The road has since reopened to motorists.
