Unsucessful city council candidates miss filing deadline

Victoria candidates could face $500 late filing fee

March 19 marked the deadline for all candidates running in the 2011 municipal election to file their financial disclosure statements.

Twenty-two filed, but two missed the deadline. Neither were elected.

Robin Kimpton and Linda McGrew now have until April 18 to file their documents but must pay a $500 late-filing fee. If they miss this deadline, they can not run for office or endorse a candidate in the next general election.

Financial disclosure statements of all the other candidates can be viewed online for the first time this year. Find them at www.victoria.ca. Under "City Hall" click "Municipal Election" to find the documents.
