UPDATE: Missing man found safe

Demetrios Konstadinos Rokanas, 34, last seen by family in Parksville on Nov. 28

A man whose car was found abandoned at the Swartz Bay ferry terminal has been found safe.

Demetrios Rokanas, 34, was reported missing by his family before Christmas. He had last been seen on Nov. 28 in Parksville. He had parked his car at the terminal on Dec. 8 and Ferries staff called RCMP about it on Dec. 16.

Rokanas contacted police on the Lower Mainland on Jan. 4, in response to media coverage of his disappearance, to announce he was safe.
