Veteran election official to oversee 2022 vote in Sidney

Sandi Nelson, helped by Christa Baxter, will guide process for a sixth consecutive time

An experienced official will handle Sidney’s municipal election.

Sidney council is set to appoint corporate officer Sandi Nelson as the municipality’s chief election officer. Nelson has served as Sidney’s chief election officer for the past five municipal elections. Christa Baxter, Sidney’s records coordinator and administrative assistant, will serve as deputy chief election officer after having assisted with election proceedings in 2018.

General voting day for the 2022 municipal election is Oct. 15 with Sidney voting taking place at Mary Winspear Centre. Nomination packages will become available in August with the nomination period running from Aug. 31 to Sept. 9.

Sept. 16 is the last day to withdraw from being a candidate. The campaign period runs from Sept. 17 to Oct. 15, general voting day. Residents can vote in advance on Oct. 5 and Oct. 12 at Sidney’s town hall.
