Victoria-Beacon Hill candidates line up debates

Local provincial candidates to face off on homelessness, poverty, child care, the environment and other hot button issues

Looking for a chance to put your local MLA candidates under the microscope before you cast your vote?

There are several all-candidates forums lined up between the three Victoria-Beacon Hill candidates in the run-up to the May 14 B.C. election.

First, listen to CFAX 1070 on May 1 from 8:30-10:30 a.m., when incumbent MLA and NDP candidate Carole James takes audience questions with rivals Jane Sterk of the Green Party and Karen Bill of the B.C. Liberals.

Later on, the James Bay Neighbourhood Association is hosting an all-candidates forum at 7 p.m. (May 1) at the New Horizons Centre, 234 Menzies St. Seating is limited, so early arrival is recommended.

On May 7 at 7 p.m., Bill, James and Sterk discuss homelessness, poverty and harm reduction at the First Metropolitan United Church, 932 Balmoral Rd. This event is sponsored by the Downtown Service Providers committee.

FInally, the Fairfield-Gonzales Community Association is hosting an all-candidates forum in the Garry Oak Room at Fairfield Community Place, 1335 Thurlow Rd., May 9 at 7 p.m.
