Victoria celebrates astronomy day

Events at the Royal B.C. Museum and the Observatory.

Victoria will be celebrating International Astronomy Day with a number of events next weekend.

On Saturday, April 29, activities begin at 10 a.m. at the Royal B.C. Museum with solar telescopes for viewing the sun and a panet display outside on the main concourse. Inside, there will be telescope mirror grinding, astrophotography, historical displays and free lectures on astronomy.

Following that, there will be evening activities on Observatory Hill (5071 West Saanich Rd.), including a tour of the observatory and telescopes will be set up for public viewing. Tickets are free, but required for entry to the observatory grounds. For tickets visit victoria.rasc.ca.
