Victoria Mayor Fortin pushes for cycling task force

Victoria's bicycle master plan adopted in 1995 and needs updating, Fortin says

Victoria Mayor Dean Fortin wants to establish a cycling task force to update the city's bicycle master plan.

Councillors will discuss the motion at Thursday's governance and priorities committee meeting.

The task force would include Fortin, Coun. Marianne Alto and Coun. Ben Isitt, as well as staff from relevant city departments including parks and public works.

The city's current bicycle master plan was adopted in 1995 and lacks consistency with more recent pedestrian and greenway plans, Fortin said. The task force would not require any external resources, according to the motion.
