A knife-wielding man seen chasing someone on his bicycle Wednesday was quickly taken down by police with a non-lethal electroshock weapon and arrested at gunpoint.
Victoria police officers were called to the intersection of Blanshard and Johnson streets at 1:30 p.m. after several people had called to report a bicycle-riding, knife-brandishing man chasing another man through traffic.
Officers Tasered the man after he refused to put his knife down. The suspect was then arrested at gunpoint.

Police said the man had been arrested earlier in the morning for mischief following a brief foot chase. He was released then on an undertaking.
Upon his second arrest, the man was held for telebail, facing recommended charges of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and breaching conditions not to possess knives.
