Victoria police arrest man suspected of flashing kids

Two reports of indecent acts at George Jay elementary

A 21-year-old man was arrested and police say he is responsible for flashing elementary school students.

At 8:30 a.m. on Thursday (Feb. 24), two eight-year-old girls at George Jay elementary ran to a teacher and reported seeing a man pull his pants down near the playground.

Police were called, but no suspect was found.

Next, during the lunch hour on Tuesday (March 1), a 10-year-old student of George Jay told the principal a man walked by a group of students with his genitals exposed.

The suspect did not enter school property.

After calling police, school staff followed a suspect through nearby streets. Officers arrived and arrested a man matching the suspect's description near Pembroke and Cameron streets.

Victoria police are considering forwarding charges of committing an indecent act against the man. He has no criminal record.

He was released from police custody under the condition he stay away from the school. He is due back in court April 7.
