Victoria police car hits vehicle from rear

Driver of struck car taken to hospital as a precaution, four-year-old in car unhurt

The Victoria police CRASH team has the areas around Bay Street and Cedar Hill Road closed off as they gather evidence relating to a Tuesday morning rear-end collision involving a police cruiser and a compact car.

Both vehicles were traveling westbound on Bay when the compact car signaled a left turn onto Cedar Hill Road. It was struck from behind by the police vehicle.

The civilian driver, a 34-year-old Victoria man, was taken to nearby Royal Jubilee Hospital to be checked out. His four-year-old passenger was uninjured.

Neither the officer nor her prisoner received injuries in the collision.

Both cars received minor damage. The Independent Investigations Office has been notified as a precaution.
