Victoria railway station move attracts one bidder

City hoping to have outside party relocate brick ticket office

Only one party has expressed any interest in relocating Victoria's railway station.

The small office for VIA Rail's E&N service to Courtenay sold its last ticket in April 2011.

Last month, the city sent out a bid for proposals for its removal and reuse  – a potentially costly project, requiring the disassembly and reassembly of the brick building.

The window for bidding closed April 18, and the city received only one proposal that complied with its criteria. Staff will evaluate the proposal this week.
