In the video above, Lee Carter speaks in Ottawa after the Supreme Court of Canada voted down the country’s ban on doctor-assisted death. Carter’s mother Kay, a North Vancouver resident, chose to end her life on Jan. 15, 2010 in Switzerland.
Her case which headlined today’s decision, Carter vs Canada.
“It allows Canadians to have a choice in their end-of-life decisions,” Carter said. “If we were allowed to have a dignified death in Canada, all of her children and even extended family would have been there to share.”
