VIHA warns about telemarketing scheme

A scheme asking you to give money to help hospitalized children is more about lining the pockets of telemarketers than helping real kids in need.

VIHA issued a warning about telephone solicitors asking local business to help buy activity books for kids in local hospitals. However, the health authority has not endorsed the campaign and receives no money from it.

Similar complaints in previous years led to VIHA filing formal complaints with the Competition Bureau and Consumer Protection BC.

Authorized organization that truly help  kids in hospital include the Victoria Hospitals Foundation and the Queen Alexandra Foundation for Children.
