West Shore police have arrested a wanted man after responding to a theft complaint.

The West Shore RCMP was called to a Colwood store in the 1900-block of Sooke Road just after 7 p.m. on Wednesday. The suspect was captured on security cameras and his description was provided to the responding officers.

A 42-year-old man of no fixed address was located nearby and arrested for theft and on an outstanding warrant out of North Vancouver for breaching a conditional sentence. Police said in a release the man was also found to be in possession of drugs when searched by officers.

“The prompt report to police allowed the officers to swiftly respond and locate the suspect in the area,” said Const. Meghan Groulx, spokesperson for the West Shore RCMP.
