Weapons and magic mushrooms found at Highlands grow-op

A licensed marijuana grow-op owner in Highlands caught with extra plants, weapons and magic mushrooms.

Executing a search warrant at a licensed marijuana grow-op, West Shore RCMP discovered a shotgun, rifle, ammunition and six grams of magic mushrooms.

The RCMP were searching the home because it was speculated the grow-op had more marijuana plants than allowed. RCMP would not release the number of marijuana plants in the Highlands home, but did say there were more plants in the home than permitted.

The Millstream Road home was searched by West Shore RCMP on April 5 at 11:25 a.m. and the home owner and occupant, a 25-year-old man was released and promise to appear in court June 13.

"He won't face charges on the extra plants, but he will face charges on the rifle, shotgun, ammunition and magic mushrooms," said acting Sgt. Kathy Rochlitz adding the man was not known to police. "Six grams is not a lot but , it's a controlling drug."

No charges have been laid.
