West Shore RCMP search for suspect after View Royal bank robbery

West Shore RCMP are on the hunt for the man who robbed the Coast Capital Bank on Admirals Road in View Royal Wednesday night.

West Shore RCMP are on the hunt for a man who robbed the Coast Capital Bank on Admirals Road in View Royal Wednesday night, just before 7 p.m.

A man in his early to mid 20s entered the bank and produced a note demanding cash. The bank gave up an undisclosed amount of money and the man left in an unknown direction.

Victoria PD officers and K-9 unit joined West Shore RCMP in a hunt for the man but could not located the suspect.

Now the public is being asked for any tips which could lead to an arrest. The man is described as Caucasian, about five feet eight inches tall, with light-coloured facial hair and wearing a dark green hoody with black stripes and black sunglasses similar to those worn over top of prescription glasses.

"He's still out there and we're hoping somebody may have seen him coming or going, may have noticed a suspicious vehicle, anything like that," said RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Kathy Rochlitz.

Police say they do have the man on surveillance but are not releasing any images at this time.

RCMP are asking anyone with any information to call the West Shore RCMP at 250-474-8790 or Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
