One adult male in custody for stealing a vehicle from the Victoria General Hospital.

One man is in custody after a car was stolen from Victoria General Hospital this morning (Oct. 1)

West Shore RCMP were called shortly after 10:30 a.m. for a car reported stolen from a parking lot at the hospital.

The car owner, who was in the hospital for less than an hour, left his two dogs in the vehicle and could only assume they too were stolen.

A security guard at VGH told police a male had been released from the Emergency Department around the same time the vehicle was stolen and had asked hospital staff for a ride to Sooke.

The West Shore RCMP sought Sooke RCMP input on the case and around 11:15 they located the vehicle.

Both dogs were found unharmed.

One male was arrested and is to appear in court tomorrow facing recommended charges of theft and possession of stolen property.
