A Victoria woman has been identified as the person who died on the site of the Occupy Vancouver protest Nov. 5.

Ashlie Gough was found unresponsive in a tent just before 5 p.m. Saturday. Despite attempts to resuscitate her, the 23-year-old could not be revived.

“The Coroners Service investigation is in its preliminary stages, and it is

inappropriate to speculate on a cause of death,” said a statement released Sunday by coroner Barb McLintock. “There is no evidence to suggest the death was suspicious in nature. An autopsy will take place early this week. Toxicology analysis will be undertaken as part of the examination.”

Gough’s family has been notified.

More information from the coroners service will be released Monday.
