September 15, 1924 - February 21, 2020
Arthur was born in Tisdale Saskatchewan in 1924. At 17, he moved west, finding work with McMillan Blodel on the Fraser River. After 45 years, he retired as a tugboat captain. Art enlisted with the 12th Canadian Scottish Regiment June 1944 and served as a stretcher bearer, becoming wounded in Wagenborgen, Holland while saving another soldier.
Pre-deceased by his wife Frances in 2014, Art and Frances were married more than 66 years. They lived most of their lives near White Rock, where they raised a family and retired to Langley in 1994. Dad seemed most happy around his large family or burning brush in the back fields of their farm in the spring. Art found happiness in small things. Even into his 90's he had a sense of optimism and grace, always grateful for the moment and the people around him. Art continued to grow as an individual through the final chapter of life with the amazing support of the staff at Broadmead lodge. Art's family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to the staff and volunteers at Broadmead where we were greeted with friendship, compassion, and respect. Instead of flowers, the family wishes donations to be made in at www.broadmeadcare.com Condolences can be expressed through carefuneral.com
