Born June 11, 1944 in Victoria, BC and passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his closest loved ones on February 9, 2008. Leaves behind his soul mate and best friend Shirley, his beloved children Michell (Clay) Cherneff and son Darren; his granddaughters Anne and Emily who were his pride and joy. Also missed by his “special children” Carrie Bradshaw, Rob Rose, Graham Painter and their families. He touched many people in his life all of whom will miss him, his sense of humour and compassion.
Rick was involved in many community groups including; Past President of the Lions Club, Kinsmen, Exec. Member of Operation Recreation, United Way Chair, Cowichan Family Life Chair, Past A.G. of Job’s Daughters, Past Master of Temple Lodge #33 as well as Past President of the Cowichan Valley Shrine Club.
The family would like to thank all who helped us with Rick’s final days at home. Special thank you to nurses Mary and Heather, Diane from Hospice, all the Home Support Staff and all the cherished friends who gave us strength and compassion to carry on.
A Celebration of Rick’s life will be held at the Christian Reformed Church, 930 Trunk Road, Duncan, BC on Friday, February 15, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. Flowers gratefully declined; if so desired, memorial remembrances may be made in the form of a donation to the Cowichan Valley Hospice Society, 3122 Gibbins Road, Duncan, BC V9L 1G2 or the Gizeh Transportation Fund, C/O the Cowichan Valley Shrine Club, P.O.
