In Loving Memory (1954-2022) ~
"The song is ended but the melody lingers on" (Irving Berlin)
Ronni left this world gently on April 27, 2022 with Charlie by her side and her families thoughts surrounding her. After a lengthy journey with breast cancer.
After living in several different communities, Ronni's family eventually settled in Winnipeg, Manitoba, where Ronni graduated from the University of Manitoba in 1977 with a Bachelor of Nursing.
After graduation, she moved to Victoria, BC and most of her career was spent on the maternity unit at Victoria General Hospital. She became involved with the BC Nurses' Union as an advocate for nurses and for the last decade of her career was the elected chairperson of the Victoria Region and sat as a member of the Provincial Council of BCNU.
Ronni's greatest love was for her family and their strength and support saw her through her final journey.
She leaves behind her husband Charlie who was her soulmate and love of her life. Ronni and Charlie moved to Qualicum Beach after retirement and together they lived life fully, travelling extensively to many places around the globe.
Some of their most joyous adventures included snorkeling with sharks, rays, penguins and other sea creatures and listening to whales calling underwater, ending their days watching beautiful sunsets and toasting wineglasses to their good fortune in life and love.
Ronni will be forever missed by her daughter Christine, who always held a special place in her heart, and by her son-in-law Randy and her beloved grandchildren: Rebecca (Darcyl), Andrew, Michelle, Melissa and Ryan. She was a proud mom and nana and cherished their time together.
Ronni was also fortunate to have loved two later-in-life daughters, Katie (Jason) and Kristine (Chris) and beautiful grand babies Fiona, Bo and Annika.
Predeceased by her dad (Robert Oetting), she will be great missed by her mom Marge.
As the oldest of five, Ronni had a special relationship with her siblings. She leaves behind her brothers Steve (Brenda), Jerry (Louise) and Jake and her little sister Cindy (Evan). She was also blessed to be loved by many nieces and nephews. Ronni's family and friends will remember her love, strength, courage and laughter.
At Ronni's request, there will be no service. A family celebration will be held at a later date.
