It is with heavy hearts that the family of Ruth Degenstein (nee Trousil) announces her sudden passing on Saturday, October 21st, 2017.

Ruth will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Candace Degenstein (Art), son Peter Degenstein (Lisa), stepdaughter Karen Ballentyne, brother Darcy Trousil (Lucille), grandchildren Robyn, Kimberley, Michael, Jessica, Nicole, Jansen and one great grandchild Arlo.

She also leaves behind niece Cindy Bryson(children Nolan and Eden) and nephew Dana Trousil(Tracey), (children Connor and Rowan).

She was predeceased by her parents, Harvey and Helen Trousil as well as stepson, Keith Degenstein.

Ruth was born October 17th, 1933 in Bonnyville Alberta. She grew up in Deep Cove on Vancouver Island where her lifelong love of the ocean was forged. She became a registered nurse in 1955, a career she pursued for only 11 years but continued to stay connected to her classmates until her passing.

Known at her residence at Hallmark Inn on the Park as "The Flower Lady", Ruth brought much joy to the staff and residents by creating and maintaining lovely gardens on the Hallmark grounds.

A special thank you goes out to all the staff at Hallmark for taking such great care of Ruth.

A celebration of life will be held at First Memorial Funeral Services 275355 - 31st Ave., Aldergrove, B.C. on April 20, 2018 at 10:30 AM, a date chosen to coincide with the Tulip Festival, one of her favourite annual events.
