Defence of property justifies violence

Re: Home invasion suspects charged (News, Jan. 21)

I, as a citizen of Canada, feel it would be unjust to charge the defender of the home in Esquimalt in wounding the suspects who broke in.

There is the word of the law and the meaning of the law, but that being said, defending someone’s home, even if a tenant, is rightful and just.

If anyone were to break into my home while I were there they could have three choices: face my katana, face my Louisville Slugger, or run back out the way you came. If you pursue this issue, beware the consequences.

If in defending my property and family, including pets, an intruder death should occur, they should have known what they were getting into and so be it. No guilt on my part.
