I hope North Saanich staff are creative in their interpretation of the mandate given them with regard to the OCP planning process.
The themes they have been instructed to create the OCP around are: agriculture and food systems; marine and land-based natural environment; climate action; healthy communities; jobs and the local economy.
I submit that affordable housing supply is a critical component of healthy communities, jobs and the local economy. We cannot get doctors and nurses in part because of the lack of affordable housing and the same applies to jobs and the local economy.
If people cannot afford to live here the rest is just fluff.
