Re: End of the Quest (Oak Bay News, Nov. 24)

How can the Mayor of Oak Bay be so misinformed about real estate in his own municipality? And where is it the place of a local government official to judge whether people’s homes are too luxurious or not?

Does he not read his financials and understand where the funds come from to run his municipality?

At a time when Oak Bay has the highest average sale price for homes of any of the other of the municipalities in the CRD and when at least two condos at the Bowker project, he so readily backed, have sold for over $1 million, plus two condominiums at the Oak Bay Beach Hotel have sold for over $2.5 million each in the last year. To make such a comment is absurd. It clearly shows his lack of knowledge of what people really want in his municipality.

To top it off, Mr. Jensen has the nerve to comment on older people having the opportunity to downsize and remain in the neighbourhood. This is the same person (a councillor at the time) who rejected and fought the Oak Bay Lodge redevelopment to its death and took away that opportunity from so many elderly who wanted to remain in Oak Bay. Just to note, that if those seniors want to move and stay in Oak Bay, they will on average, have approximately $930,000 to spend on downsizing.

Hypocrite.
