I am of the opinion that Mr. Coates has got it wrong.
It is time to look to the future as many towns in Europe have done and make Beacon Avenue a pedestrian mall, allowing cross traffic. Business deliveries before 8 a.m. and after 8 p.m.
The town should also address the pathetic parking situation, by allowing paid parking development instead of concentrated high rises.
Tour bus parking is another thorny issue.
I know of one tour bus company in Vancouver that will not come to Sidney because of the parking hassle.
