Nurse clarifies point behind print ads

Frustrated letter writer should read to bottom of ad

Re: Nurses union ads frustrating (Letters, Jan. 29)

The writer clearly hasn’t read the ad entirely or he would have gotten the message that nurses (RNs and LPNs) are doing multiple assessments when they appear to be undertaking a simple task.

Observation and assessment by nurses at the bedside are primary tools in restoring patients’ health.

The ads are designed to alert the public to the reduced nursing care available to them under Island Health’s new care model and the risks this poses for patient safety.
