Where are Canada’s rescue dogs?

Why are so many dogs imported from Mexico and the United States? Where are Canada’s rescue dogs, large and small?

It is recognized that seniors benefit greatly from owning a pet.

I am a senior, healthy and active. I was raised on a farm, have had a family and had pets all my life. I had a profession, I drive, walk daily and own a townhouse with a fenced patio area.

I applied to a local agency to adopt a small rescue dog. I had a home visit. My home was inspected and I was refused a dog. I was told, and I quote: “the situation was not in the best interests of the dog.”

Also, I am curious. Why are so many dogs imported from Mexico and the United States? Where are Canada’s rescue dogs, large and small?
