Elk Lake rowing centre hosts national regatta for masters

Gorge Rowing Club’s Julian Paine and Majic Fountain finished fourth in the men’s E double of the Canadian Masters Rowing Regatta at Elk Lake on Sunday. The event brought hundreds of rowers from across Canada to Saanich and Victoria for the weekend competition.

Gorge Rowing Club’s Julian Paine and Majic Fountain finished fourth in the men’s E double of the Canadian Masters Rowing Regatta at Elk Lake on Sunday. The event brought hundreds of rowers from across Canada to Saanich and Victoria for the weekend competition.

Rowers from across Canada descended on Elk Lake on Friday, Saturday and Sunday (Aug. 19 to 21) for the Canadian Masters Rowing Championships.

The Victoria City Rowing Club hosted the championships at the Elk Lake rowing centre at Elk Lake’s Eagle Beach.

The regatta featured 119 heats of singles, doubles, quads and eight-person crews, men’s, women’s and mixed, from novice levels to experienced.
