Salmon fishing remains hot, too

Saltwater salmon fishing in Sooke remains good.

The weather has been dry and sunny, perfect for getting out on the Strait of Juan de Fuca and trolling up some fresh salmon.

There has been action on winter chinook salmon out front of Sooke Harbour and west as far as Sheringham Point.

Crabbing in the harbour has been the best seen in quite some time. Lots of large male Dungeness crabs in the traps after only a few hours soak. Some chicken or fish placed in the bait cage of a crab trap can get you some very special Christmas treats, Sooke style.
