Grizzlies growl on the junior-A circuit

Top-line propels Victoria Grizzlies to 14 goals in two games

Call it a slow awakening from the offseason slumber, as the Victoria Grizzlies are wide awake.

Since losing the first five games of the season, the red hot Grizzlies (6-6) turned things around with six wins in the past seven games.

The Grizzlies host the Cowichan Capitals at Bear Mountain Arena on Wednesday, 7:15 p.m.

The Grizzlies won a 7-5 barnburner over the Chilliwack Chiefs on Saturday and a blew out the Langley Rivermen 7-1 on Thursday.

Both games were home at The Bear where attendance on Saturday improved to an announced crowd of 1,038 from 748 on Thursday.

Hat tricks were in order for both wins, as Wes Myron led the Grizzlies over the Rivermen on Thursday with three goals and one assist. With Myron away on a college scouting trip, Mike Moran relished an opportunity with the top-line of Wade Murphy and Jarryd Ten Vaanholt by scoring a hat trick and one assist.

Murphy picked up seven points (one goal, six assists) in the two games, with Ten Vaanholt collecting six points of his own. Murphy is now third in league scoring with 10 goals and 14 assists in 12 games.
