A full stadium got to see both a new team and a win for the home side during the home opener for Victoria's HarbourCats as they defeated the visiting Kelowna Falcons 8-6 at Royal Athletic Park.

The baseball game, originally scheduled for 7pm, did not get underway until 8pm  as the Kelowna team was delayed due to bus trouble.

Lieutenant Governor Judith Guichon threw out the honorary first pitch and home town pitcher Nick Pivetta was the starter for the HarbourCats.
