Panthers, Cougars face off in Island junior hockey finals

The Peninsula Panthers made it a sweep of the Comox Valley Glacier Kings, pounding the north Island visitors 5-1 at Panorama rec. centre on Monday night.

Major midget callup Brandon Egli scored the first goal and Kyle Peterson and Joe Densmore each scored twice, staking the Panthers to their second-straight VIJHL final.

The defending Paterson Memorial Trophy holders swept the best-of-five series against Comox in three straight games, winning 6-5 in overtime at

Panorama on Friday and 4-1 in Comox on Saturday. Game two is tonight at Panorama Rec. Centre, 7:30 p.m. Game three is Sunday at Archie Browning Sports Centre, 3 p.m.
