Lucky sevens for Grizzlies, offensive explosion continues

Grizzlies ride scoring wave with seven goals in third straight game

Last week it was the Victoria Grizzlies' top line Wes Myron-Wade Murphy-Jarryd Ten Vaanholdt line destroying the BCHL.

This week it's the Mike Moran-Brad Gehl-Alex Holland line.

Moran scored two goals and three assists for the Grizzlies in a 7-5 win over the Cowichan Capitals at Bear Mountain Arena on Wednesday night. With the win the Grizz' (7-6) move into third place in the Coastal division.

It was also the Grizzlies' third straight game scoring seven goals, having defeated Chilliwack 7-5 on Saturday and Langley 7-1 last Thursday. Moran had four points against Chilliwack giving him nine in two games, and now has 19 points in 13 games on the year.

Gehl contributed to the Wednesday win with one goal and three assists, while Holland scored two goals. Murphy potted one goal, keeping him first-overall in league scoring with 28 points, while rookie Coltyn Hansen scored the winner less than a minute after Cowichan tied it six and a half minutes into the third period.

Former Victoria Cougars (and Saanich Braves) forward Travis Stephens scored once for Cowichan.

The Grizzlies are in Nanaimo on Friday and Coquitlam on Saturday before returning to host Langley, 4:30 p.m. at Bear Mountain Arena on Sunday.
