Saanich Fusion FC maintains slim lead in Div. 1 men's soccer

Saanich Fusion FC maintained its spot atop the Vancouver Island Soccer League Division 1 men's standings last weekend with a 4-0 win over Lakehill Reds at Braefoot Park.

Mike Moon scored his sixth goal of the season and Ryan Hulstein recorded his sixth shutout of the year to lead the winners. Colin Medlar and Michael Baart also scored in the victory, Fusion's ninth of the season against two draws and just one loss (29 points).

Hard on Saanich's heels in second spot is Cowichan FC with  a 9-3-1 record (28 pts.), with Vic West sitting third at 8-2-2 (26 pts.). With a 6-1-4 mark (22 pts.) and games in hand on the leaders, Bays United FC is not far back in fourth.

This Friday's play sees the Fusion travel to Nanaimo and Vic West in Duncan to play Cowichan, while Gorge hosts Castaways under the lights at 7 p.m. at Hampton Park. Saturday's lone match sees the Reds host Bays United at Braefoot Park at 4 p.m.
