Stars players fill Victoria amateur league's individual leaders lists

Heading into tonight’s play in the Victoria Hockey League, the Stars hold a slim lead over the Stingers for top spot in the standings. The Stars, 16-2-2 overall and 8-1-1 in their past 10 games, are in a tight battle with the Stingers (16-5-0), who look to draw even with their rivals with a win tonight over the last-place Tritons.

Clayton Lainsbury of the Lions, with 24 goals and 26 assists on the season, and Pat Papineau (23-27-50) of the Stars are neck and neck for the league scoring lead, while Stars teammates Trevor Gicas (18-29-47) and Trevor McNeil (24-21-45) not far back.

Stars’ goaltender Mike Edison, 14-2-2 on the year, had the low goals-against average of 3.39.
